#IndiasDaughter – My Next Film On Nirbhaya Premiers On 8th Mar

“India’s Daughter” My Next Film on Nirbhaya (Jyoti Singh), A BBC production, directed by Leslee Udwin is to premier On International Women’s Day, 8th Mar, 2015 in New York, at the event which also marks the 20th anniversary of the Fourth UN World Conference on Women in association with Vital Voices Global Partnership and the NGO Global Partnership and the NG Plan International.
It would also see a worldwide telecast on the same day barring India due to the Ban imposed yesterday by the government from airing it.

I’m proud to be attending the screening in NY, with actresses Freida Pinto, Meryl Streep, Anne Hathway and the likes, launching a worldwide India‚Äôs Daughter campaign against gender inequality and sexual violence against women and girls. Having been an integral part in the making of this film which took over 2 years, I say it was indeed one of the most emotionally stirring and thought provoking film that I have composed for so far. In fact, BBC just decided to air it today itself due to tremendous international interest it has generated in the last 2 days of its announcement in India.

Its saddening to learn that my country won’t be able to view this film; a film that is destined to make you think about the society we live in and the prevalent gender inequality and one that highlights the root causes and perils which leads to the gruesome act of rape.
